David Sloane's American Humor magazines and Comic Periodicals [Greenwood Press, New York (1987)] says LAUGHTER featured "longer prose stories by Ellis Parker Butler, James House, Jr., and other writers of amusing stories with general themes. A variety of gags, cartoons, and jokes appeared as filler between the stories.... Subjects ranged from burlesques of Shakespeare to dialect gold miner's stories." Originally published by Guild Publishing Company of Philadelphia, price twenty-five cents, trim size 7" x 10" and 100 pages. The first issue was October 1925; the last one seen by Sloane was June, 1927 (Vol. 3, No. 4). The December-January 1928 issue (Vol. 5, No. 3) was the last one copyrighted.
