This magazine began in March, 1904, as a publication of the American School of Correspondence at the Armour Institute of Technology in Chicago. By December of 1904 it was running color covers, some of them simple and many quite striking. It quickly dropped the visible connection with the school, and positioned itself as a magazine of the new and sci/tech for the mass audience. Sometime about 1915 it changed its title to ILLUSTRATED WORLD, and that was merged into POPULAR MECHANICS in 1923. Many full volumes of this magazine can be read at the Internet Archive.
