Strange ad for tires, eh. Wizened old prospector contemplates an ancient, beat-up Fisk Tire sign stuck improbably on a pile of rocks in the desert (you can see a cactus just to the right of his right boot). Why is he carrying the rifle instead of packing it with his kit on the donkey's back? Is the sign telling him to quit prospecting in the desert and retire to some other place? Why is there a sign here? Why are we seeing a prospector? Why? Published in the May 15, 1924 issue of LIFE, the Humor Magazine
